The Foundation for Yunus Social Business Taiwan was established on 2014 with the authorization of the founder of Grameen Bank and the Nobel Peace Prize winner in 2006 –Dr. Muhammad Yunus, who is also renowned as the “poor people’s banker”. Endeavoring in promoting Social Business to achieve the Three Zero Mission worldwide: zero poverty, zero unemployment, and zero net carbon emissions. Being a social business, it is localized in Taiwan for further development. The foundation operates to achieve four missions: “establish the Grameen Trust,” “establish Social Business Funds,” “establish YSBC – Yunus Social Business Center,” and “establish Yunus Social Business.” At present, the universities that have established YSBC including National Central University, Chang Jung Christian University, National University of Kaohsiung, National Quemoy University, National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, and more. The foundation emphasizes on the counseling of social business, with start-up university students, social welfare groups that plan to transform into social business, and enterprises’ social responsibilities that plan to extend the social charity service project as major objects. It aims to solve minority women’s problems, the unequal distribution of resources problems in remote areas, and other societal problems through business operations. (2) Gear into international standards. Continuation of the vision. The foundation participates in the annual world conference of social business held by Yunus Centre, Dhaka in Bangladesh and visit successful local business cases. Information of the latest trends will be brought back. (3) Sharing of YSBC international resources Connect with universities in Taiwan to establish YSBC. At the same time, they will be connected with YSBC at international universities and Grameen related organizations. Start-up university students will be trained locally and sent to the Yunus Centre, Dhaka in Bangladesh to take short courses or further their studies regularly. Returning to the home countries, they will become the young pioneers of social business. (4) Social business grand tour, let Taiwan been seen In the future, one-day grand tour for international social business people will be promoted to encourage international exchange to allow Taiwan to be seen in the international arena. In addition, it allows participants to broaden their international outlook. (5) Volunteers exchange, services without boundaries Connect Taiwan volunteers with international volunteers to participate in volunteer works in remote areas . Help volunteers from different countries to communicate their blessing and cheering message to minority groups.

Taiwan Painting Talk Association was founded in 2012, and the aim of the association is to help the disabled convey their own ideas through drawing, since it’s hard for them to “talk”, but art is the language that moves us forward. In art education therapy, the disabled can find a way for expressing “words” through various media and embed OT, PT, and daily life skill training into art activity. The association provides an art platform as well as entertainment to the disabled, cultivating their creativity and growth. To promote the disaster rescue capacity of the special emergency rescue squad and tune up the respond speed of rescue in local and international disasters, Fire Bureau Of Taichung City Government established the Rescue Dog Team. It is grouped with expert trainers of rescue dogs. In ordinary time, rescue dogs are trained in rubble search, wilderness search, path tracking, and other rescue missions. The team also engages in equipment maintenance to consolidate the capacity in emergency rescue. When major disasters happen, the team will be dispatched to rescue people’s lives. The contents of the rescue dog team’s missions: 1. Assist in searching mission of missing people in Taichung City. 2. Rescue mission in major local and foreign earthquake disasters. 3. Assist with 921 Earthquake Museum's interactive promotional activities. The world largest International Rescue Dog Organization (IRO) has been established for 25 years, with 117 member-organizations from 42 countries. It held members’ conference regularly to discuss the technique of rescue dogs and share the disaster rescue experience in different countries. At present, there are 3 groups of dog handlers and rescue dogs. All of them passed the Mission Readiness Test (MRT). In the future, they will be enlisted to conduct major disaster rescue missions at local and foreign. A few days ago, the rescue dog squad conducted joint-training with BRH, Germany and signed a cooperation agreement. According to the agreement, the BRH will visit Taiwan in March every year and participate in the joint-training with Taichung Rescue Dog Squad, which will visit Germany in September every year to enhance their skills in path tracking, successfully reaching international standards.

I.S.A.R. Germany is a non-governmental organization, established in Duisburg, Germany in 2003. The mission of the organization is to provide international rescue to natural disasters and special incidents and disasters, humanitarian aids, and more. I.S.A.R. Germany possess rescue equipment designed with the most advanced technology, experts, rescue dogs, and a stand-alone medical team that can operate itself or work with a rescue team. In 2007, it was certified by the IEC (INSARAG External Classification) as a Medium USAR Team. At the same time, it is also the first rescue team that earned the Medium USAR Team certification. With the capacity of an international Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team and sufficient ability to operate for 10 days with self-sufficiency in any disaster-stricken areas of the world. Over the past years, it participated in the medical assistance in Haiti Earthquake in 2010, the disaster of Typhoon Haiyan in Indonesia in 2013, West African Ebola virus epidemic in 2014, and Nepal Earthquake in 2015. In March 2018, with the recommendation of BRH a long term partner of I.S.A.R. Germany and the assistance of Taipeh Vertretung in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland Buero Muenchen, I.S.A.R. Germany signed an MOU with the Fire Bureau Of Taichung City Government, initiating the exchange project regarding disaster rescue and educational training. In early April this year, the rescue team of our department was invited to participate in the joint-conference of the four European countries (Germany, Austria, Swiss, and Luxembourg). It is the first rescue team in Taiwan that participated in an IEC-USAR joint-training.

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Asia University combines forces with local industry and resources to help the regional government promote community development, paying concern to minorities. It collaborates with the government’s innovative humanity, the practice of newly emerged society, and the New Southbound Policy, it promotes the INGO in Wufeng, Taichung. Regarding instruction, industrial-academia cooperation, research as the core, it endeavors to encourage Taiwan’s sustaining development to fulfill its social responsibility. The Asia University International NGO Research Center was established according to the Establishment and Management Guidelines of Asia University International NGO Research Center.” With Wufeng Studies at its core, the pastoral city and the theory of transition town as the foundation, it implements various community schemes at grass-root level. With the spirit of creation, handicrafts, aesthetic, ecology, farming, labor, organic, exploration, leisure, cooking, learning and performance, related activities are conducted. It guides participants to know the environment and land where they live and see the beauty of Wufeng, a place hidden with humanistic treasure. In addition, it conducts long-term cooperation with INGOs in Germany, Cambodia, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, and other countries to implement students’ internships, service learning, academic exchange, cultural learning, and other activities.

The International College of Surgeons is a global organization, endeavoring to gather surgeons, scholars, and experts in different countries to promote surgical therapy and medical research. It aims to encourage international exchange and cooperation. The mission of the college: 1. International conference: Sponsor global conferences to discuss themes related to world hygiene. 2. Humanistic medical rescue and operation: To promote the goal of WHO – “universal health” coverage with the provision of “primary health care”. Encouraging communities to participate, it works towards the goal of “Health for All”. 3. International cooperation: It shares experiences of medical rescue and explore the trends of humanistic surgical treatment and collaborate to build up a better world. The International College of Surgeons, Taiwan Section visited the Amazon River regions during the Chinese New Year earlier this year to provide free medical consultation to people in tribes and low-income people. Although there were language differences and the lack of resources, they still help a few thousand people by curing their casualties. They also taught them basic first-aid knowledge, hoping to achieve the goal of “curing local people with local people.” They helped local residents learn ways of self-curing and lowering instances of illness. As there was language barriers, fortunately with the help of the Ministry of Diplomacy’s help, the medical students from the South American countries that have diplomatic relationship with Taiwan joined the team to help them overcome communication barriers between doctors and patients. This event earned positive feedback. The doctors expressed that they will be back soon!
